Participation in official projects

As part of our commitment with the environment we participate in various projects that investigate more sustainable materials.

THESE ARE SOME OF THE PROJECTS CMSA PARTICIPATES IN:

ACTIPATCH (AIMPLAS-CDTI)

The project aims to develop new PE (polyethylene) containers, biodegradable in soil, with antifungal, antibacterial and / or antgerminative properties for the packaging of potatoes and onions. It will run between 10/01/2017 and 03/31/2020 and will take place at the facilities of AIMPLAS, CMSA and our provider INPLASA.

To finance the budget for this project, which amounts to € 359,491, CMSA has received partially reimbursable aid co-financed by the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

NEWNET (AIMPLAS-CDTI)

The project aims to develop biodegradable materials in soil, based on physicochemical modifications of commercial biopolymers to obtain film-type containers and meshes for the packaging of fruit and vegetable products, by means of flat sheet extrusion and “melt spinning” technologies respectively. . It will run between 10/01/2019 and 03/31/2022 and will take place at the facilities of AIMPLAS, CMSA and our provider INPLASA.

To finance the budget for this project, which amounts to € 468,757, CMSA has received partially reimbursable aid co-financed by the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

BIONTOP (European Union’s Horizon2020 research and innovation programme)

« Novel packaging films and textiles with tailored end of life and performance based on bio-based copolymers and coatings».
BIOnTOP is a research and innovation project funded by the Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking with a consortium of 20 institutions from eight European countries (Contribution: 4 MM€).The objective of the project is to create recyclable and cost competitive packaging solutions that can be mechanically recycled, industrially/home composted or even suitable for anaerobic digestion, using sustainably sourced comonomers, additives and fillers to formulate novel PLA copolymers and compounds.
